Since the major revamp of the premises that has taken place under the existing management over the last six years, we now have the provision of service to all kinds of events down to a fine art . We have built up a fearsome reputation for the timely delivery of first class food and beverage with highly attentive service. Hosts can choose from our a la carte menu or our fork and finger buffet selections. We regularly cater for the whole range of corporate and private events including:-

Our Party and Function Ethos:- We always keep in mind that; 1) it is YOUR PARTY , not ours…we work for you! 2) every function is totally different. We know how stressful organising an event can be. In the beginning we just listen to your requirements and then work out a suite of services that suits your needs and budget that we can both sign up to. 3) We will NEVER promise you something that we cannot deliver. 4) You can ALWAYS feel confident that after you have booked with us, you will have an accurate idea as to EXACTLY what the parameters for the final bill will be.


Any of our public areas can be tailored to provide a unique and special experience whether in our restaurant, Old Bar and Snug or outside on our decking or in the garden. We have gained an excellent reputation with local businesses and residents and visitors from afar who use our facilities to entertain guests & friends.

Many find our location in the Centre of Southern England and the Midlands conducive to family gatherings where guests are coming from all over the country. Wedding Breakfasts and Banquets:- Whether you want to be low key, or shout about yourselves from the rooftops, we can help. The main restaurant is perfect for banqueting from 25 to 80 persons and we have rooms in our bar that can be configured for smaller, more intimate events for 10 to 22 persons. It is difficult to estimate costs for a three course event of this nature, but depending on the choice of food and wine, and whether pre-dinner drinks and snacks are required, this can vary from as little as £30/head to £70-80 at the top end, but normally, including half a bottle of wine per person, end up at around the £38-55 level. After your dinner is over, you may wish to consider moving to our Old Bar to party on?

By special request, we can consider exclusive use of the whole premises, though that would include our rooms too and use of the Old Bar and Snug (see below).


Party on in the Old Bar:- In the Landlord’s Wing, the oldest part of the building dating back to 1532, the Old Bar provides a spectacular backdrop against which to hold your after dinner party or that really special birthday bash, wedding anniversary or informal get together. By request, Live music can be arranged , though only on the understanding that the host guarantees occupancy in the five rooms upstairs over the bar and that music ceases at midnight.

Whatever food requirements you have can be looked after too, whether you are looking for a finger buffet or something more substantial such as a Shepherd’s Pie with Salad or Whole Salmon with Salad and Cold Cuts.

Drinks can be ordered from the Bar and billed to the host up to whatever limit is stipulated. After which hosts can choose to have a “pay bar” whereby guests pay their own way.


Private Dinners and Informal Gatherings:- The rooms at each end of the Bar, The Snug and the Robsart Room are perfect for smaller and more intimate gatherings where privacy and a more personalised service is required. Either room can be configured to hold up to 22 diners, with the Snug having the added benefit of extra seating for after dinner drinks and chat. If having a sit down dinner, Patrons would normally pre-order food off the a la carte menu. Should you wish to tailor a menu to your requirements, we can help you with this too.
